At what age can I leave school?
You can leave school on the last Friday in June if you’ll be 16 by the end of the summer holidays.
However, although you do not have to go to school, you will have to remain in education, employment or training until the age of 18.
What options do I have before I am 18?
Between 16 and 18 you will be able to choose from:
- full-time education (for example at a school or college)
- an apprenticeship or traineeship
- part-time education or training combined with one of the following:
- employment or self-employment for 20 hours or more a week OR
- volunteering for 20 hours or more a week.
